Valmet will supply core technology for Shandong Sun Paper’s Yandian pulp mill in China
The order includes a cooking and fiber line, a recovery boiler, an ash crystallization system, and analysis and measurement equipment for the fiber line. In addition, it covers optimization solutions and related safety systems for the recovery boiler. The new mill is expected to produce 600,000 tons of pulp annually and start up in the fourth quarter of 2026.
This order is among those received by Valmet in the second quarter of 2025. The value of the agreement has not been disclosed.

The technology they previously supplied to the Beihai mill has proven highly stable in operation and efficient in raw material use. The Valmet team has also consistently supported us in achieving our goals and ensuring project success. This is the third cooking and fiber line and the second recovery boiler we have ordered from Valmet since 2020. We are very confident in another successful project with them.”

Technical Information about the Order
The cooking and fiber line is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, integrating the latest advancements in Valmet Continuous Cooking, delivering superior efficiency in energy and raw material usage. The final product achieves high quality, minimizes wastewater flow, and enhances environmental performance thanks to the application of the latest generation Valmet TwinRoll press washer, as well as Valmet’s advanced screening, oxygen delignification, and bleaching technologies. The order also includes the Valmet Fiberline Analyzer and measurement equipment for fiberline process control. The entire line has a capacity of 600,000 tons per year.
The recovery area order includes a Valmet Recovery Boiler and an Ash Crystallization system. The high-capacity recovery boiler, designed for 3,500 tons per day, is engineered for reliable operation with extended cleaning shutdown intervals, thereby increasing equipment lifetime. With its high capacity, the boiler can generate a larger amount of renewable electricity to meet the mill’s internal needs. The ash crystallization system effectively removes chlorides and potassium from the chemical cycle, reducing corrosion and limiting emissions. In addition, the order includes the Valmet Recovery Boiler Optimizer and related safety systems.
